2014 April 14 * NaPoWriMo * Day 14 [Poem]

Strategy Session (7 Haiku)

Questions On Each Line except the last

Are you ready yet?
Can we get started right now?
Could you take minutes?

Did all teams show up?
Does headquarters have our stats?
Don't we have the edge?

How can we win this?
Might we spy on the others?
May I share my notes?

Shall we close the door?
Shant we keep this off record?
Should we send smoke screens?

Shouldn't we take care?
What if they figure it out?
When will we be done?

Where do we have flaws?
Why don't they suspect us yet?
Will we repeat this?

Won't they be surprised?
Would you read back the minutes?
Meeting is adjourned.

He Understands Me (Kenning)

                A POEM of noun pairs

He understands me

With
my city way
my country game
my welfare purse
my society name

I’ve got government schoolin’
And actress tastes
I’m a fashion fool
With a circus waist

He accepts
me

And
my laundry mountain
my kitchen skills
my number plays
and medicine pills

my hospital houseplants
m
y bacteria carpet
my m
ildew sink
graveyard garden

I accept him

Despite his success ambivalence
façade insecurity
Our height difference
And his wilderness need for me

I love

his heartland family
double decade car
He has a money job
and he's never seen cell bars

What a marriage match we'll make!

I Need Some Wine To Love You (Blues)

A PoeM OF WINE AND LOVE

I need some wine to love you ‘cause life with you’s so hard.
I need some wine to love you baby; life with you’s so hard.
Gotta down a couple glasses before we even start.

Always fighting over something; we always disagree.
It seems everything’s an argument; we always disagree.
When I think I want some Pinot, you bring white wine to me!

I ain't goin' no where baby but something gotta give!
Don't have no plans to leave you but something gotta give!
When wine and love become a habit, that ain't no way to live!

Hug A Poet Today (Rap)

                An advertiseMent poeM

Hug a poet today!
Because poetry is cool
It is even more fun
Than what you learned in school

Hug a poet today!
Haters just don’t understand
All the love seems to go
To the singers and the bands

Hug a poet today!
Because we’re more than incidental
Without them every song would be
Purely instrumental!

Remember you can Call Me anytime.
She's stepping back; she's gonna keep it light.
Why did you have to say "The Girl Is Mine"?
Who wants to be the reason for your fight?

She's stepping back; she's gonna keep it light.
Go Through The Fire; put anger on a shelf.
Who wants to be the reason for your fight?
You will have to
Keep Your Hands To Yourself.

Go Through The Fire; put anger on a shelf.
Although you tried to do your level best,
You will have to Keep Your Hands To Yourself.
Time After Time you couldn’t pass her test

To My Daughter
       REWRITING A FAMOUS POEM
:
Come here girl you need to know
Don’t think my world’s a garden path!
I have been bitten by the rabid dogs
Who jumped their fences
And dug holes that made me stumble and fall
Hard
It took a while
I got back up limping
Grabbed some crutches
Picked up a flashlight
Mapped a new route
And continued on my way
Even when all I had was faith
And everyone else doubted my destiny
That’s why you can’t give up
Never bury your head
After you twist your ankle
And the dogs snarl and bark
With threatening teeth
Stand up straight
Like me baby
Don’t think my world’s a garden path!
